IJM Ghana partners with Ghanaian government agencies to tackle human trafficking by rescuing victims, ensuring perpetrator accountability, restoring survivors to safety and strength, and supporting public justice actors to strengthen systems that protect the vulnerable.
The Need
For over 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM’s Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence, we are seeking two drivers to support the team by providing professional, safe driving services and logistical support to IJM staff and its partners and stakeholders. The Drivers ensure maintenance and care of the vehicles in their care and ensure adherence to the driving policy. The Drivers maintain a high degree of knowledge and training on situational awareness and field team security to provide necessary support in the field. This position is a full-time position and requires frequent travel to other regions in Ghana.
This position is based in Accra, Ghana and reports to the Lead, Safety and Security and is only available for candidates with the right to work in Ghana.
Responsibilities:
- Provide professional driving services to staff and partners who are working in the various project areas to institute IJM’s theory of change;
- Provide transport to all grant related trips and meetings;
- Is responsible to ensure that IJM vehicles under their care are kept in excellent condition, are operating/functioning at a high level, and are being used in a manner consistent with good stewardship;
- Demonstrate IJM’s core values and spiritual rhythms;
- Compile detailed and thorough monthly vehicle logs;
- Notify the Lead, Safety and Security immediately of any vehicle damage or defect;
- Assist the Lead, Safety and Security to create and update transport policies and procedures where needed;
- Ensure transport of staff or any other authorized persons to and from the place of assignment;
- Assist grants team and other departments on all logistics prior to their trips and on the trips;
- Support Administration department in the general office maintenance as and when;
- Maintain proper records of use, condition and fuel consumption of IJM vehicles.
- Welcome International guests at airport and hotels;
- Comply with all traffic regulations and licensing requirements;
- In the case of accident or incident involving company vehicle, ensure proper protocols are observed;
- Ensure state of vehicles from trips are in neat state before parking onsite or offsite;
- Good steward of IJM resources and assets at all times;
- Ensure proper control and fueling of IJM vehicles at their minimum point;
- Ensure IJM vehicles are properly maintained by adhering to the vehicle policy; and
- Ensure IJM vehicles are always parked in a manner that minimizes risk of damage, theft to staff and the vehicle.
Requirements:
- Must possess at least an HND/Diploma or degree from an accredited technical school or University;
- Must have undergone certified training in at least Defense driving;
- Must possess a valid driver’s license of class C or above;
- Must possess basic computer skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel preferred;
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years driving pickup trucks, SUVs, or vans;
- Knowledge of all traffic laws and regulations, city streets and addresses;
- Must possess excellent navigation skills;
- Must always be able to maintain vehicle maintenance while ensuring safety of passengers; and
- Must be able to prepare and maintain vehicle logbooks with no error in recording.

*What is a statement of faith?
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM. The statement can either be incorporated into the cover letter or submitted as a separate document which should not more than a page, and should include, at a minimum, a description of your spiritual disciplines (prayer, study, etc.) and your current fellowship or place of worship.
